The Wimbledon Training Guide to Nosebleeds

Nosebleeds are a common occurrence, whether due to heat or a broken nose, and you need to be able to stop a nosebleed.

The inside of the nose is very delicate and sensitive, and nosebleeds can also happen from blowing, it getting too dry or picking.

Here are a few tips to deal with nosebleeds.

You should:

• sit them down

• tilt the head forward

• pinch the soft part of the nose for 10-15 minutes to allow the blood to clot, while breathing through the mouth.

If the head is tilted backwards, the blood will go down the throat which is likely to cause them to vomit.

Once the nosebleed has stopped, for a few hours do not let them:

• Blow their nose

• Pick their nose

• Drink any hot drinks

Call 111 or go to A&E if:

• the nosebleed lasts longer than 15 minutes

• the bleeding seems extreme

• they vomit from swallowing too much blood

• they start to feel dizzy or struggle to breathe
